Every Meal Tells a Story Worth Savoring

Authentic Italian cuisine in West Milford, NJ, where the kitchen earns a 4.8-star reputation one plate at a time.

About Us

The name says it all: Cibo e Vino means food and wine, and that pairing is the entire philosophy here. At 216 Cahill Cross Road in West Milford, this restaurant has built a devoted following by doing exactly what its tagline promises: where every meal tells a story. Guests return not just for the food, but for the feeling that someone in that kitchen genuinely cared about what landed on their table.

The menu reads like a love letter to the Italian table. Regulars rave about the meatball appetizer, the tortellini carbonara, and the oysters that one guest called the start of "the best meal I have had in years." The kitchen listens, too. When a loyal customer asked for spaghetti, the team made it happen. That kind of responsiveness is rare, and it shows in 128 reviews averaging 4.8 out of 5 stars.

Cibo e Vino also operates locations in Newburgh, NY, and Slate Hill, NY, so the story extends well beyond New Jersey. But the West Milford room has its own character: warm bread arriving at the table, a dining room that feels like a neighborhood discovery, and a staff, including standout servers like Tony, who treat hospitality as a craft rather than a transaction.

What We Offer

Dinner service runs Tuesday through Sunday, giving guests six evenings a week to explore a menu built around traditional Italian technique and seasonal ingredients. On weekdays, the kitchen opens at 4:00 PM, with Friday and Saturday evenings extending to 10:00 PM for those who linger over a second glass of wine. Saturdays and Sundays also welcome afternoon diners starting at noon, making weekend lunch a relaxed option.

Starters like the meatball appetizer and fresh oysters set a high bar before the entrees even arrive. Pasta dishes, including the fan-favorite tortellini carbonara and a spaghetti that the team added by popular demand, anchor the menu alongside fresh fish preparations such as the John Dory. The kitchen accommodates requests and modifications, so guests with specific preferences are encouraged to ask.

Whether you are planning a date night, a family dinner, or a quiet solo meal at the bar, the pacing and atmosphere at Cibo e Vino are built for the kind of evening where you lose track of time in the best possible way.

"Best meal I have had in years! This is, hands-down, my new favorite restaurant. Everything was phenomenal. The food, the service, the ambiance. It was all outstanding. I started with the oysters which were soooo good. Then I had the scallops special, which was pan seared scallops with spinach and roasted potatoes. It blew my mind. I don’t know what they season their potatoes with but OH MY GOD. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the sauce was incredible and even the spinach was fantastic. Finished off the meal with a chocolate mousse cake and a cappuccino and they did not disappoint!!! The owner and the servers were so friendly, generous, and attentive! They went above and beyond to ensure a wonderful experience. I was dining alone and the owner and one of the servers, Katie (who was so lovely to talk to!) took extra time to talk to me. I truly appreciated their kindness. And I never felt rushed. Everyone was so welcoming and the pricing is very reasonable! I cannot wait to go back! If I could give more stars I absolutely would!"

"UPDATE! Our waiter Tony is awesome! Tried the Gian Dory (requested without mussels, able thru acquiesed) and it was delicious! BEST OF ALL, THEY LISTENED TO MY REQUEST AND THEY NOW SERVE SPAGHETTI! YAY! LOVE THESE GUYZ!.. (PREVIOUS POST=The oysters rockefeller, arugula salad and chicken piccata were delicious! I really wish they will someday have spaghetti but they had the cappelini which I prefer as I don't like LINGUINI) . The ITALIAN BREAD IS AWESOME as is the Olive Tapenade, I love Italian BREAD! Tall Mentor is very welcoming and hilarious and Meti, our waiter is very attentive and fun! Will definitely dine here again and again!"

"We ordered take out tonight from here and I couldn’t be happier with the experience!! I love chicken parm and I order it from various restaurants in town here. So when I ordered tonight and they didn’t ask me what I wanted with it or what I wanted it over I was kind of surprised. So after I hung up I was thinking well I guess I’ll find out what goes with the food when I pick it up. To my WONDERFUL SURPRISE I got the most tender and delicious chicken parm with a few roasted potatoes and fresh broccoli. That’s it!! And it was wonderful because I am one of those people who 9.5 out of 10 times don’t eat the pasta that the dinner is usually over. So the fact that it was prepared exactly how I want it and I didn’t have to explain that I don’t want it over pasta. If you are like me in this regard, you will NEVER BE DISAPPOINTED with this restaurant! Please keep in mind that the restaurant did not skimp out on the chicken portion, there was several pieces of chicken in there as well as the aforementioned potatoes and broccoli."
